Fraudulent emails and scams continue to pop up across the area.
Sanilac County News Publisher Jane Vanderpoel has reported an out of area charlatan has been contacting the publication’s Best of the Best winners and using the paper’s copyrighted logo to solicit purchase of a Best of the Best plaque.
Vanderpoel said the company is in no way affiliated with the Sanilac County News and has no permission to use their name or logo in solicitations.
She said there are numerous LOCAL businesses that can perform the same service and covet your business, especially now, as they are fighting for their livelihood and in many cases, to keep generations old family businesses afloat during this extended business shut-down.
Northstar Bank employee Jessica Lamm said she has received emails from Pay Pal asking to verify account information that seemed fraudulent.
Lamm sasid she also received an email from Amazon asking to verify account information that was also fraudulent.
