The Birchwood Mall in Fort Gratiot has been sold. An investment group from New York purchased the over 720,000 square foot mall, which opened in 1991 to great fanfare. The mall was listed for sale back in November. The mall was purchased by New York-based Kohan Retail Investment Group along with Westwood Mall in Jackson as a single transaction on Friday. A representative from Kohan Retail Investment Group confirmed that the mall was purchased for $5.6 million, and has plans to keep current mall staff and perform capital improvements on the property.
