(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – One person died as a result of injuries sustained in a one-vehicle in St. Clair County early Saturday morning.
According to the St. Clair County Sheriff Department, around 8 .m., a call was received saying a vehicle was driving all over the road on Yale Road near Comstock Road and eventually struck a tree a short time later.
A witness tried to help the driver, who was pinned into the vehicle, with flames coming from underneath.
A second bystander attempted to help with a fire extinguisher, but was unable to contain the fire.
Deputies say by the time they arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed.
The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was recovered and pronounced dead on the scene.
Grant Township Fire Department, Yale Police Department and Tri-Hospital EMS assisted on the scene.
The crash and fatality remain under investigation.
