(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – A reported structure fire in Port Huron Saturday morning quickly became a crime scene after a female’s body was discovered in the rubble.
According to the Port Huron Police Department, the body of the 28-year old female was found after Port Huron firefighters extinguished flames in a home in the 1800 block of Division St. around 8 a.m.
Port Huron Detectives and the Major Crimes Unit investigated the scene with assistance from the Michigan State Police Crime Lab and a Michigan State Police Fire Investigator.
Around 11 p.m. Saturday, law enforcement executed a search warrant in Port Huron Township, arresting a 27-year old male who police say was in a relationship with the deceased.
After questioning, the man was lodged in the St. Clair County jail and is being held on murder charges.
