(AREA) – Here’s a story out of Tuscola County that has a happy ending. Just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, the Tuscola County Sheriff Department K-9 unit was called out for a report of a missing 8-year-old boy that ran off into the woods in the Shay Lake area.
Officials say the child was not wearing a shirt or shoes at the time of his disappearance.
Sgt. Robinson and K9 Blek were dispatched to conduct the search of the area, beginning near the residence and Blek quickly located where the child had gone into a wooded area.
The boy was tracked south through the woods, eventually making his way back to a nearby road about 1/4 mile from his home.
Thanks to the tracking of Blek and his handler, the boy was found safe and sound, hiding in tall grass.
Tuscola deputies were assisted by the Kingston police department.
