Officials with the National Weather Service are saying a weak tornado touched down in St. Clair County’s Jeddo area late Thursday. Although the storm was not warned by an official countywide warning, officials say the storm had winds of 70 mph and was classified as an EF-0. The funnel cloud was only on the ground for a half of a mile, around 6:15 p.m. and measured 120 yards wide. National Weather Service officials said the storm caused damage to a carport, pine trees were snapped off and a cornfield was leveled. Authorities also reported some roof and siding damage to a dwelling in the path of the storm. No injuries were reported and no other storms were noted in the listening area.
