(SANILAC COUNTY) – The Sanilac County Parks and Recreation Board is hoping to continue their improvements to county parks, with their sights set on additional upgrades at Evergreen Park.
Although nothing is official, Parks and Recreation Board Chairman Roger Ballard said the committee is planning on submitting a grant to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources valued at around $300,000 dollars.
As part of the grant, Ballard said thought has been given to new playground equipment, including a merry-go-round that is accessible to all, including handicap visitors.
Also in the grant could be requests for a putt-putt golf course, two new pavilions and a kayak launching dock along the banks of the Cass River that runs along the campground property.
The campgrounds, which features 173 camping sites, has recently added improvements including infrastructure and full hookups for some larger sites.
The board hopes to apply for the grant early next year.
