Sanilac County deputies investigated
(SANILAC COUNTY) -Snow-covered and slippery roads are partially being blamed for a two-vehicle accident early Monday morning that sent a teenager to the hospital.
According to the Sanilac County Sheriff Department, emergency personnel responded to the intersection of M-53 (Van Dyke Rd) and Deckerville Road in Evergreen Township around 9 a.m.
Deputies, along with MMR Ambulance and Argyle Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the scene.
Deputies say a 20-year-old Decker woman was traveling north on N. Van Dyke Rd. in a 2008 Ford Escape, losing control of her vehicle due to slippery conditions, and entering the southbound lane.
Investigation showed that a 19-year-old Elkton female was southbound in a 2006 Dodge Durango and lost control of her vehicle, trying to avoid the northbound vehicle and collided with the other vehicle.
Deputies say the 20-year-old female was treated and released on the scene while the 19-year-old female was taken by MMR ambulance to McLaren Thumb Regional hospital in Bad Axe for treatment of injuries.
