(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – On January 1, 2022 at approximately 5:45 a.m., Port Huron Police received a call that a 33 year old female Port Huron resident was found deceased in a parked vehicle in 2700 block of Vanness Street.
Just hours in to the New Year, Port Huron Police arrived at the scene and found obvious trauma to the woman’s body. Port Huron Police Detectives and the Major Crimes Unit were called out to investigate.
The Michigan State Police Crime Lab will be assisting with evidence collection. The deceased was turned over to the St. Clair County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Police say her name will not be released until an autopsy has been conducted and positive identification has been made.
At 11:10 a.m., the Port Huron Police Special Response Team executed a search warrant in the 2600 block Manuel Street in Port Huron.
The home is the residence of a 46 year old male who was arrested in connection with the murder. The male was taken to the Port Huron Police Department and interviewed.
He was ultimately lodged in the St. Clair County Intervention Center on the charge of open murder.
