Go Big or Go Home on National Big Wig Day to Help Save the Bark Shanty/Aitken House
On Friday, January 28th, The Stone Lodge in Port Sanilac invites you to participate in their Big Wig “fun-raiser”. We’re all urged to celebrate by donning the biggest wildest wig we can get our your hands on, then having a great meal to support the County Historical Society’s (SCHS) project to move the Bark Shanty/Aitken /Aitken House to the Sanilac County Museum grounds. Not only will the restaurant offer a 10% discount on your entire bill, but they’ll also donate $5 to the Bark Shanty project for each dinner that shows up wearing a wig. this applies to both dine-in and carry-out customers. The Stone Lodge’s minimum goal is to donate for 100 guests during Big Wig Day!
The SCHS must raise $75,000 in pledges/donations by February 1st to commit to accept the house, which was built in 1853 and is one of the oldest homes still standing in Port Sanilac. If the Historical Society falls short in their goal, the home is in jeopardy of being demolished. The SCHS wishes to thank the Stone Lodge for their generous support. SCHA administrator, Dawn Malek, says “This is sure to be a fun and delicious way to show your support” Come on out and be a big wig by supporting this important effort to preserve Port Sanilac History.
