Sanilac County wants YOUR ideas for the next county master plan

From a press release from Lisa Kenny, from the Sanilac County Planning Commission:

SANILAC COUNTY, MI— Consultants from Beckett & Raeder are assisting the Sanilac County Planning Commission in the creation of an updated county master plan, and they are asking residents to complete a brief online survey regarding the most pressing needs of the residents and businesses.  The results of the survey will then be presented to the Master Plan Steering Committee to help create a road map for the county government for the next decade.

Several recent local housing studies have shown that the county has a shortage of market rate housing that is making it difficult for employees of local hospitals, factories, and small businesses to attract and retain workers. Young adults looking for their first home are also having trouble finding an affordable place to live. With new home building prices so high, alternative styles of housing need to be considered, and the committee needs resident input about what styles of housing they would like to see in their neighborhoods. What do you think about barndominiums, pocket neighborhoods and other types of housing?

Residents are asked what they feel the most pressing issues in the county including alternative energy, housing styles, cellphone and internet service, what word they would like to use to describe Sanilac County now and 10 years in the future, and what recreational activities would they like to see. The survey takes 5-10 minutes to complete.

The survey can be accessed online through the Sanilac County Future Facebook page at www.facebook.com/sanilaccountysfuture, or by typing the following into the search bar on your  computer or phone www.bit.ly/sanilacsurvey If a resident does not have internet access or does not have a computer, they can request a print copy at any Sanilac County library.
