Thumb Opioid Response Consortium one of two recipients for $2 million grant from state

Only one of two programs in Michigan to receive the funding, the Thumb Opioid Response Consortium (TORC) is set to receive a cool $2 million over the next four years via Michigan’s Rural Communities Opioid Response Program – Behavioral Health Care Support (RCORP-BHS) grant.
With the state grant, TORC has been able to expand their service area to cover all of Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac and Tuscola Counties via 15 partnerships with healthcare providers and educators across the four counties.
In addition to the funding and existing partnerships, two new partnerships were announced– the United Community Addiction Network and the National Drug Endangered Children Alliance.
The Thumb Opioid Response Consortium provides access to and support for quality treatment for substance abuse disorders and other related behavioral health conditions, especially in the rural areas of the Thumb. As the state’s Rural Communities Opioid Response Program’s goal is to reduce the morbidity and mortality of substance use disorders, such as opioid use disorder, the Thumb area program aligned very well with the multi-year initiative, coming together for further support of the local community.
