A 34-year-old man was declared dead at the hospital on Saturday, December 3, after accidentally driving his 2014 Audi A6 off the Harsen’s Island ferry ramp into the St. Clair River’s North Channel.
It was shortly before 5:00 a.m. when Clay Township Police requested assistance from the St. Clair County Dive Team, who were able to free the man from the submerged vehicle, which they were able to also retrieve from the water later that morning. Investigation thus far shows that foul play is not suspected, nor is vehicle malfunction.
The Dearborn man was taken to Ascension River District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, with notifications being made to the family at this time.
