A Thursday afternoon house fire in Mayfield Township saw Lapeer and Deerfield Township’s Fire and Rescue Teams working together to fight the blaze.
Crews were called shortly before 4:00 p.m. to the North Lapeer Road home after a passing motorist saw that the house, located between Daley and Coulter Roads, was smoking, with thick white clouds billowing from the structure. The home, which is currently being renovated, was only damaged at the fire’s origin spot, with the blaze being controlled within 20 minutes.
While the fire’s cause has not been found, the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office does not believe the fire was set intentionally. No one was harmed during the fire, with the homeowner being gone during the blaze.
