Sanilac County Community Mental Health donates to charitable causes

By Katherine Conlee
Sanilac County Community Mental Health (CMH) staff members donated $1,641 to two citizens from Sanilac County.
A $741 check was presented to Christina Rowley, the Foundation & Marketing Director of Marlette Regional Hospital, for their BCUPS program. This program provides all Sanilac County citizens with access to breast cancer understanding and prevention information services.
A $929 check was also given to Pastor Kyle Gerrild of the Countryside Free Methodist Church in support of the church’s annual Backpack Project. A project that provides students going back-to-school with supplies.
The money was provided by employees through CMH’s “Casual for a Cause” fundraiser. In exchange for a $3 donation, staff at CMH are allowed to dress casually every other Friday with the knowledge that proceeds are given in support of the community.
All funds are donated towards initiatives that aim to benefit Sanilac County residents. Former recipients include the Outpost Ministry Foodbank, Walk for Warmth, Shop with a Hero, Thumbs Up for Kids, and the Sanilac County Veterans’ Affairs Soldiers Relief and Transportation funds.
