Brown City council schedules budget approval meeting, raises utility rate fee

While Brown City has yet to hold their budget hearing, the city council did hold a public hearing in regards to increasing the annual monthly utility rate fee due to inflation at their meeting on Monday, February 27.
They ultimately approved amending its associated ordinance to allow for the increase, also voting to approve a resolution amending the city’s fee schedule to include prices for water system turn off/on services.
In addition to these changes, the council voted to purchase a salt spreader for the city, as well as discussed bonding out for another street project.
With City Manager Charles Bennett recommending that the Tax and Finance Committee meet to review the 2023-’24 budget, the council scheduled the Budget Approval meeting for Monday, March 13, the same day as their next regular meeting.
