Marlette school board to decide interim superintendent at Monday meeting

By Arica Frisbey, SBC News Director
In addition to releasing an agenda for tonight’s meeting, the Marlette School Board of Education made a statement regarding the investigation of departing superintendent Matthew Karaffa.
Accepting the resignation last Thursday, March 9, during a special meeting, board president Neal Bishop says that the “resignation resolves the issues related to the recent investigation. While the District and Mr. Karaffa agree the investigation was thorough, objective, and maintained no assumption of wrongdoing throughout, the expedited resolution of these matters is in the best interests of the Marlette School District, students, and the community.”
Discussions regarding the superintendent search and who will serve in the interim will be held at Monday night’s meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the elementary school library.
Also at Monday’s meeting, the board will discuss the year’s general appropriations budget amendment, and announce Marlette’s Friend of the Youth 2023. Superintendent Karaffa’s last day with the district will be June 30.
