Sanilac County Historical Society and Port Sanilac Parks & Rec. Department collaborate to offer a free Easter Egg Hunt

Port Sanilac, MI – The Sanilac County Historical Society and the Port Sanilac Parks & Recreation Department have teamed up to host a free Easter Egg Hunt for children in the community.
Historical Society administrator, Dawn Malek, said she and her team have been working with Dan Finn from the Parks & Rec. Department to create a fun event for everyone.
“We couldn’t answer ‘yes’ quickly enough when we were asked to collaborate with the Parks & Rec. Dept and host the Hunt on the Museum grounds. This has been such a great project and we’ve had a lot of community support for the event,” Malek said. 1000 plastic Easter eggs have been donated by individuals, and another 1000 by the Port Sanilac Area Business Association. Plus, more than 50 pounds of candy and lots of treats and prizes have been donated. But Malek assures us that they still need more. “It takes a lot of candy and surprises to fill 2000 eggs,” she stressed.
The event begins at 11am on Saturday, April 8, with pre-activities. Bring the kids for fun and games and contests like egg races and sack races, coloring with local celebrities “Dog & Bear”, bonfires, and more. The Egg Hunt begins promptly at 12:00 noon, with three separate areas for the following age groups:

  • Toddlers through 4-year-olds
  • 5- through 8-year-olds
  • 9- through 12-year-olds

To aid in the event planning, attendees are asked to RSVP to schsheather@gmail.com ASAP and to note the ages of your children.
