Over the past month, 42 staff members at Sanilac County Community Mental Health (Sanilac CMH), donated extra “Casual for a Cause” funds to hopefully secure a commodity food truck to support those in need in Sanilac County.
The group raised $1,400 towards their effort, started after staff noticed that commodity food distributions have been reducing in number since the pandemic took a down-swing and recently ended, while the needs in the community continue to remain the same, or increase.
The plan will be to make the truck available to the community at a time this summer when food distributions aren’t as plentiful. Information will be circulated on the Sanilac CMH website and the Sanilac Community Mental Health Facebook page as to when the event will take place.
CMH employees were allowed to dress casually on specific days in exchange for a $5/day donation to the “Casual for a Cause – Commodity Food Truck” fund.
Former recipients of the CMH Casual for a Cause funds are Shop with a Hero, Thumbs Up for Kids, Sanilac County Humane Society and the Sanilac County Veterans’ Affairs Soldiers Relief and Transportation funds.
