Though Holland Woods Middle School is back in session today, Port Huron Police are still investigating a threat reported yesterday morning by the Port Huron Area School District.
The threat saw officers respond immediately to begin their investigation, with the students released early out of precaution. As of their report Tuesday evening, police have searched the building and located nothing inside or on school grounds that poses a safety concern.
Despite this, police are continuing their investigation, with the department saying via press release that students would see an increased police presence at the middle school on Wednesday.
Via press release, the department noted, “We also want to remind everyone that making a threat, even as a joke, is a serious matter that will be taken seriously. We urge parents to take the time… to remind their children about the severity of making such statements and the potential consequences that come with them.”
