The North Branch teen who passed away in Sunday’s UTV accident has been identified. 17-year-old Kendall Renee Coulter succumbed to her injuries after she was ejected from the UTV she had been riding in. The accident occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening in Lapeer County’s North Branch Township.
Investigation by the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department revealed that Coulter and 18-year-old Nadia Clark of Marlette were heading south on Cedar Creek Road when they crested a hill and nearly collided with an oncoming northbound vehicle. While swerving to avoid the oncoming car, the UTV left the roadway and overturned several times, ejecting both occupants of the vehicle before coming to rest upright on the west side of the roadway.
Officials say neither women were wearing a helmet or seatbelts.
Clark is currently listed in serious but stable condition at McLaren Lapeer Regional Hospital. The crash remains under investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours Sunday evening for cleanup and investigation.
Lapeer County Sheriff Deputies were assisted at the scene by Lapeer County EMS, the North Branch Fire Department and the Lapeer County Accident Reconstruction Team.
