A 17-year old male from Deckerville was seriously injured after being struck by a pickup truck while riding a motorized pedal bike Tuesday afternoon. Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 911 call at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday reporting that a pickup truck had struck a bicycle at the intersection of Deckerville Road and Maple Grove Road in Marion Township. Investigation revealed that a 1977 Ford F-250 being driven by an 88-year old Deckerville man was heading south on Maple Grove Road. The truck stopped at the intersection of Deckerville road before continuing south into the right of way of the bicyclist, who was unable to avoid the collision and was struck by the front corner of the truck. The 17-year old Deckerville man sustained significant injuries as a result of the collision, and was treated on scene by Sanilac EMS and the Deckerville Fire Department before being transported to Port Huron Hospital for further treatment of injuries. The 88-year old driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
