Port Huron Police to hold 9/11 ceremony at International Flag Plaza

Port Huron Police will be holding a Service of Remembrance in two weeks, on Monday, September 11, to honor the first responders killed in the line of duty 22 years ago.
In a press release, Port Huron Police Chief Brian Kerrigan noted that during the tragedy, 343 firefighters and 72 police officers lost their lives.
“As we approach the Anniversary of the World Trade Center and Pentagon disasters, it is appropriate that we memorialize those who willingly gave their lives unselfishly trying to rescue others,” Chief Kerrigan declared, saying “that it is for those officers, firefighters, and E.M.T.’s; our brothers and sisters who died that day, and their families,” that the service will be held.
The service will be held at 9:00 a.m. at the International Flag Plaza, Thomas Edison Parkway (North of the Blue Water Bridges) in Port Huron. In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Public Meeting Room of the Municipal Office Center at 100 McMorran Blvd.
