A two-year-old child in Bad Axe was treated last Thursday after ingesting THC gummies, the Bad Axe Police report.

On Thursday, October 5, Bad Axe Police responded to McLaren Region E.R. after receiving a report of a child who had possibly overdosed in Bad Axe.

Sgt. Mike Anderson of the department investigated the incident, finding that the child had likely ingested candy infused with THC before becoming unresponsive and being taken to the emergency room by family. The child was later transferred to Covenant E.R., in stable condition, as a precaution.

The matter was turned over to Child Protective Services for further investigation, with no criminal charges being sought at this time.

Bad Axe Police would like to remind anyone using THC products, be it for medicinal purposes or recreationally, how important it is to securely store these items, with Chief Shawn Webber saying in a press release, “it is the responsibility of the owner of such items to keep them out of the hands of any unauthorized person.”
