Sandusky City Manager Dave Faber reports that this morning, the city’s contractor began the seal coating and striping process of the Lexington Street parking lot.
Currently, that parking lot is striped north to south, with the thought that redoing the spaces east to west would allow for the lot’s space to be better used. The work could be completed before November depending on the weather, with the two halves of the lot taking approximately three days of work each. Work will begin on the north half of the parking lot first, transitioning to the south once completed. Sections will be barricaded off that are under construction.
Available parking for employees and customers during construction includes on-street parking where permitted, the parking lot near city hall off M-19 and Speaker, the parking lot on Morse Street behind Ace Hardware and the First United Methodist parking lot on Lexington street, with the church requesting that no delivery or semi trucks park in the lot and that the church gets priority to the lot if holding a funeral.
The city apologizes for the inconvenience during the construction, but with the need for parking in the city being so great, the project is necessary to add additional parking to the downtown.
