Three arrested in connection to St. Clair County DTF investigation in Wales Twp.

An investigation by St. Clair County Drug Task agents culminated in an early morning traffic stop and arrest on Wednesday, November 29.

Task force agents have been investigating the sales of methamphetamine from the 2600 block of Kilgore Road in Wales Township, with the home owned by John Fiks and lived in by suspect Nichole Nazario, the subject of Wednesday’s arrest.

Around 1:20 a.m. on November 29, Nazario was pulled over for a traffic stop on I-69, with officers finding a large quantity of methamphetamine in the car, as well as a throwing knife. St. Clair County Sheriff K-9 Brock assisted at the traffic stop, with Nazario arrested and lodged at the county’s Intervention and Detention Center.

A little over 12 hours later, around 3:00 p.m., agents executed a search warrant at the Kilgore Road residence, with the St. Clair County Drug Task Force and Special Response Team executing it with the assistance of Port Huron Police’s Major Crimes Unit. Homeowner John Fiks and resident Theresa Vanerp were located during the search, being detained along with several other individuals residing in the home and campers on the property.

Fiks and Vanerp were found to be in possession of methamphetamine, with a search at the jail finding Vanerp in possession of multiple Suboxone strips hidden on her person. She was subsequently charged with smuggling contraband into a jail.

All three suspects were arraigned on Friday December 1, 2023 and received $10,000 bonds.
