Police believe alcohol to be a factor in late night Brown City truck crash

accident-2

Police believe that alcohol and speeding were factors in a car crash yesterday night in Brown City.
Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a call just after 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, informing them of a single vehicle crash near Lincoln Street and Grant Road in Brown City. Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies were accompanied to the scene by Brown City Fire Department, Elk Township Fire Department and Marlette EMS.
Initial investigation determined that a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was being driven south on Lincoln Street by a 22-year-old Bruce Township man. The driver, as he was heading south, drove left of center, ending up in the east ditch and proceeding to crash into an embankment. The impact caused the cab to separate from the vehicle’s frame, sending it airborne and into a field.
The driver and sole occupant of the Silverado was treated on scene and later transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital of Saginaw via Life Flight for treatment of his injuries.
Alcohol and speed appear to be factors in this crash. Names are being withheld, as this is an ongoing investigation.
