Canadian authorities thwarted the smuggling of almost 115 lbs of cocaine via the Blue Water Bridge earlier this month, just one of their many efforts to keep illegal narcotics from entering the country.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) report that on Monday, December 4, a commercial truck entered Canada at the Blue Water Bridge port of entry in Point Edward, Ontario, and was referred for a secondary examination.
During the inspection of the trailer, border services officers discovered boxes containing 52 kg (about 114.6 lbs) of suspected cocaine. The CBSA arrested Manpreet Singh, 27, of Brampton, Ontario, and seized the suspected narcotics.
Singh was charged with importation of cocaine and possession of cocaine for trafficking purposes. The matter is currently before the Ontario Court of Justice, in Sarnia, Ontario.
