A Lapeer County man is believed to have been intoxicated during a Monday night incident that left a dirt bike driver dead.

Michigan State Police report that the crash occurred on Monday, April 8, around 8:45 p.m. on Brown Road, south of Reid Road in Macomb County’s Bruce Township. Initial investigation found that a Dodge Ram pickup truck was being driven south on Brown Road by a 55-year-old Imlay City man when he used the northbound travel lane to pass another vehicle. However, while the truck was in the oncoming travel lane, it struck a northbound dirt bike head on.

Though the 53-year-old dirt bike driver from Romeo was transported by local EMS to a hospital, he was soon pronounced deceased. The Imlay City man was not injured during the incident, but on scene investigation determined that the man had been impaired.

He was lodged pending prosecutor review.
