A Port Huron Police Officer is facing consequences after being caught off-duty driving while intoxicated.
The department was made aware of the situation last Friday, May 3, with the command staff investigating the incident and arresting the officer at the conclusion of said investigation. The officer was lodged at the St. Clair County Intervention Center while they sobered up, being released pending a case review by the county prosecutor’s office.
Prosecutors authorized a formal operating while intoxicated charge against the officer, with Port Huron Police Chief Joe Platzer noting that “as a result, the officer has been placed on Administrative Leave while a thorough internal investigation is completed.”
