19-year-old Port Huron man dies of injuries from Thursday night accident

A 19-year-old died two days after a traffic incident late Thursday night in Port Huron.
Port Huron Police Chief Brian Kerrigan announced the passing on Monday, May 13, noting that the investigation was still ongoing.
The 19-year-old had sustained his fatal injuries last week, with witnesses finding him lying injured in the street and calling Port Huron Police to the 2700 block of 24th Street around 11:50 p.m. on May 9 to investigate.
Investigation found that the injured man, a 19-year-old from Port Huron, had been skateboarding and holding onto a vehicle when he fell, struck the pavement and sustained several facial and skull fractures. He was transported to McLaren Macomb Hospital by Tri-Hospital EMS, where he was in serious critical care before his death on Sunday, May 11.
The driver of the involved vehicle is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. In addition to the police department’s Road Patrol, Criminal Investigative Division, and Accident Investigators being dispatched to the scene, also on scene were the Port Huron Fire Department and Tri – Hospital EMS. The roadway was closed for several hours while police investigated the crash.
