At least one person was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident in Huron County’s Bingham Township this morning, according to Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson.
Emergency responders, along with the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, were dispatched shortly after 6:30 a.m. on June 4, to the intersection of Bad Axe and Wadsworth Roads.
Upon arrival, preliminary investigation indicated that a 30-year-old Harbor Beach woman had been driving her 2015 Chrysler van westbound on Wadsworth Road when she failed to stop at the intersection, thus colliding into another vehicle. That other vehicle was a 2006 Ford Mustang being driven south on Bad Axe Road by a 57-year-old Kinde man.
According to Deputy Shawn Wright, who arrived at the scene quickly, having come across the accident while en route to work, the Kinde man was communicating with him at first, but lost consciousness as ambulance personnel arrived. Huron Central Ambulance personnel realized quickly that the man had stopped breathing, with CPR performed and the man first transported to McLaren Thumb Hospital before being flown by helicopter out of county for specialized emergency care. As of noon today, there have been no further updates on the man’s condition. Meanwhile, the Harbor Beach woman appeared to have only minor injuries and refused further treatment. The investigation is ongoing, with the scene being processed following the accident. Also assisting at the scene were the Bingham and Bad Axe fire departments, Elkton EMS, Ubly Police and the Huron County Road Commission.
