A wrong-way driver caused a rollover crash near Capac yesterday night.
St. Clair County Central Dispatch received a call just before 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, reporting an eastbound driver traveling in I-69’s westbound lanes. Before deputies arrived on scene, a rollover crash was reported.
Upon arrival, investigation found that the wayward car was a 2003 Chevy Malibu, and it had rolled over after striking a trailer being pulled by a 2013 Dodge Ram 2500. The Ram’s driver attempted to avoid the crash by pulling over to the right lane, thus also avoiding injury.
The wrong-way driver was transported to McLaren Lapeer Hospital with life threatening injuries and later airlifted to U of M Ann Arbor for further treatment. The St. Clair County Accident Investigation team is still investigating the accident at this time.
