Huron County 14-year-old suffers life-threatening injuries from Sunday ATV accident

A 14-year-old from Sheridan Township was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after an ATV crash on Saturday afternoon.

Michigan State Troopers were dispatched around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, to a two-vehicle personal injury crash at McMillian and West Wadsworth Roads in Huron County’s Sheridan Township.

Upon arrival, investigation found that a 14-year-old from Sheridan Township had been driving an ATV south on McMillian Road, when a 48-year-old from Ubly, also traveling south on McMillian Road, attempted to pass the ATV. However, the 14-year-old abruptly turned into the right side of the passing vehicle.

Ejected from his ATV, the 14-year-old sustained life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Troopers were assisted on scene by Huron County Sheriff’s Office and Bad Axe Police Department.
