msp-2

A call regarding a dog attacking chickens led Michigan State Troopers from Lapeer to discover almost 25 farm animals being neglected in St. Clair County.
Troopers responded to a complaint yesterday, August 26, regarding dogs attacking a neighbor’s chickens in Burtchville. However, preliminary investigation instead led to numerous animals being discovered on the property without food, water or proper living conditions.
Several dogs were found locked in crates with no food or water in the property’s barn, which reached temperatures of 109 degrees.
In total, 24 animals, including donkeys, goats, cats, dogs, chickens and a turkey, were rescued from the residence with help from Animal Control.
The incident remains under investigation and will be sent to the St. Clair County Prosecutor’s Office for potential charges.
