Michigan State OL Jack Conklin leaving Spartans for NFL

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) – Michigan State tackle Jack Conklin is skipping his senior season to enter the NFL draft. The Spartans announced Conklin’s decision Wednesday. Coach Mark Dantonio says Conklin will be an “outstanding tackle at the next level” and could be a first-round pick. The 6-foot-6, 325-pound Conklin was part of an offensive line that helped Michigan State win the Big Ten and reach college football’s playoff. The third-ranked Spartans lost to second-ranked Alabama in the semifinals last week. Conklin was named a second-team All-American this season by The Associated Press. He says it was a difficult decision to forgo his final year at Michigan State, but he and his family felt it was time to take the next step.
