The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office also responded to an accident involving a tractor last Friday evening, with Sanilac County Central Dispatch receiving a report around 7:00 p.m. on September 13 of an overturned tractor and silage trailer in Sanilac Township.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene on Washington Road, near State Road, with the Port Sanilac Fire Department and Sanilac EMS also responding.
Upon arrival, deputies determined that a 31-year-old Deford man, operating a Fendt tractor and pulling a 30-foot silage trailer, was westbound on Washington Road when the tractor experienced a tire blowout. The blowout caused the tractor and trailer to jackknife, overturning the trailer as it did.
The driver was treated at the scene by Sanilac EMS for possible injuries but refused further medical treatment. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the accident. The driver’s name is being withheld at this time.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Sanilac County Road Commission.
