The Port Huron Police Department detained three men for illegal entry into the United States yesterday, September 23.

The U.S. Coast Guard contacted the Port Huron Police Monday, reporting three Hispanic men crossing the St. Clair River from Canada and into the U.S. via a raft.

The men abandoned the raft near the mouth of the Black River, with responding officers finding the men running north on Michigan Street, near Grand River Avenue, in Port Huron, duffle bags in tow.

The three men were detained and then turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol for illegal entry into the United States, with all three men identified as Mexican citizens. The Port Huron Police urges residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
