Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office Launches “Operation Santa’s Sleigh” to Support Families Impacted by Hurricane Helene

The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce the launch of Operation Santa’s Sleigh, a community-driven toy donation campaign aimed at bringing Christmas joy to children affected by Hurricane Helene.

We are collecting new toys, winter hats & gloves to fill trailers that will be delivered to families in the Bakersville, North Carolina and surrounding area, through Cloudland Baptist Church, which is helping families who lost everything in the storm. Many families in Bakersville will struggle to provide gifts for their children this holiday season. Operation Santa’s Sleigh aims to help these families by delivering toys directly to children in need.

  • Event Details:
    • What: Operation Santa’s Sleigh – Toy Donation Drive
    • Where: Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, 65 N. Elk St Sandusky, MI
    • When: Now through November 15th, 2024
    • Donations: New, unwrapped toys for children of all ages

Additionally, there will be a special collection day at Walmart in Sandusky, Michigan on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Shoppers can drop off new, unwrapped toys, winter hats & gloves directly at our trailer, which will be stationed at the Walmart location.

“All it takes is one toy to brighten a child’s holiday, especially for those who have lost everything,” said Sheriff Paul Rich. “With the help of our generous community, we can turn these trailers into Santa’s sleighs and make sure Christmas comes to families in Bakersville.”

For more information or questions about the event, please contact the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office. The donation deadline is November 15th, 2024. Let’s come together to fill the sleigh and bring the magic of Christmas to those in need!
