Huron County officers detained several suspects in a Detroit-area drive by shooting investigation this past Thursday, December 12.
Late Wednesday evening, the Huron County Central dispatch received an alert to be on the lookout for a suspect fleeing the scene of a drive-by shooting, with tips indicating the suspects were headed to a home in Oak Beach, near Austin.
Shortly after midnight on Thursday, a Huron County Sheriff’s deputy came across a vehicle matching the BOLO alert near the Oak Beach home. As the officer waited for backup from another deputy, the suspect vehicle left the residence, eventually heading south on M-25 and being followed by the two Huron County Sheriff’s deputies.
Meanwhile, another deputy and an Elkton Police Officer met and waited on M-25, south of Bay Port, waiting for the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was stopped, and two male suspects were taken into custody and transported to the jail.
Though the driver was further charged with driving under the influence, the Huron County Sheriff’s Office turned the two men over to Clawson Police for the drive-by shooting investigation. The suspect vehicle and other belongings seized from the suspects by deputies were also turned over to the Clawson Police.
