(PORT HURON TOWNSHIP) — A suspicious package was found Friday morning in the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office employee parking lot. Sheriff Tim Donnellon says an employee pulled into the lot around 5:30 a.m. and saw someone drop off a suitcase size package at the entrance to the parking lot. The package had a note attached with a red blinking light on top. As a precaution, the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad was called. It was determined that it was simply a suitcase of clothing and the blinking light was from a cell phone. The suitcase was dropped off by the wife of an inmate. The woman was apparently upset with the inmate and dropped off his belongings from his home. The Sheriff’s Office was not evacuated and Detectives will contact the woman who dropped off the suitcase for questioning.
