Suspects arrested for armed robbery and assault in Evergreen Township

(EVERGREEN TOWNSHIP) — Two men were arrested over the weekend in connection with an armed robbery and assault that took place on Wednesday, February 3 in Sanilac County’s Evergreen Township. Troopers from the MSP Caro Post say an 18-year old woman had met a man online and invited him to her home in Evergreen Township. According to Troopers, the encounter was initially friendly, but turned physical. A second man arrived at the home and took part in the physical assault and robbery. The woman was able to get help after both suspects left. She was transported to Hills and Dales General Hospital in Cass City where she was treated and released. During the investigation, Troopers learned of recent incidents in Oakland and Macomb counties, which are believed to have been committed by one or both men involved in the Evergreen Township incident. The 21-year old Troy man and his accomplice, a 28-year old Madison Heights man were arrested on Friday, February 5 in Battle Creek with assistance from the Michigan State Police 5th District Fugitive Team. The Troy man remains jailed in Oakland County on outstanding warrants. The Madison Heights man was taken to the Sanilac County jail. Names are being withheld pending arraignment.
