Lexington woman sentenced in case of deadly car crash

(SANDUSKY) — The 22-year old Lexington woman charged in the fatal October 2014 crash that killed two Sanilac County teens has been sentenced to prison. Laken Williams was handed down a sentence on Wednesday of 3 to 15-years on two counts of reckless driving causing death with credit for 380 days served. Authorities say Williams was driving the vehicle that crashed on Roach Road in Lexington Township October 28, 2014, killing 17-year old Danielle Torrez of Croswell and 18-year old Dakota Moore of Applegate. The vehicle had been traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway and rolled several times, ejecting both Torrez and Moore. During the initial investigation, Williams told police that she was a passenger. Authorities later determined that she was in fact the driver. Two charges of false report of a felony and lying to a peace officer were dismissed when she pleaded guilty to the reckless driving charges.
