Onsted’s Austin Davis repeats as AP Class B Player of Year

ONSTED, Mich. (AP) – Onsted’s Austin Davis has repeated as Associated Press Class B boys basketball Player of the Year. The 6-foot-10, 230-pound center averaged 25.3 points, 14.3 rebounds and 4.9 blocks per game while shooting 79 percent from the field as a senior. Davis finished his high school career with 1,687 points, 1,087 rebounds and 297 blocks, all program records. He will play for the Michigan Wolverines next season. Also on the All-State first team are Frankenmuth’s Mario Whitley, Detroit Henry Ford’s James Towns, Harper Woods Chandler Park’s Jalen Martin, Detroit Northwestern’s Terrance Sewell, Williamston’s Riley Lewis, Lansing Catholic’s Tony Poljan, Flint Southwestern’s Ivan Warren, Wyoming Godwin Heights’ Leon Redd and New Haven’s Romeo Weems. Detroit Northwestern’s Matthew Blount was named the Coach of the Year.
