The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is awarding the Lexington Arts Council a grant of $10,000 in support of the Lexington Bach Festival for 2025.
The award was one of 272 Challenge America grants awarded this year; the Lexington Arts Council was one of only 18 organizations awarded in Michigan and is the only organization in the Thumb.
“The NEA is proud to continue our nearly 60 years of supporting the efforts of organizations and artists that help shape our country’s vibrant arts sector and communities of all types across the nation,” said NEA Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “It’s inspiring to see the wide range of creative projects taking place, including the Lexington Arts Council’s Bach Festival.
According to John Groustra, grants administrator for the Council, the NEA grant will help to fund the 25th Bach Festival, celebrating the 25th year of Lexington Arts Council productions and consisting of three concerts to be held September 10 through 14, 2025 together with informal recitals at churches and schools.
Liz Jackson, Council President, added “We’re grateful for the support of the NEA, and as this grant requires matching contributions, we are also grateful for our patrons, sponsors, and other grantors who support our Festival”.
