(AREA) — State Representative Gary Howell of North Branch recently introduced legislation clarifying the legal definition of a military veteran, part of a multi-bill package that will make it easier for veterans to receive benefits they earned while serving their country. Howell, who is an Army veteran himself, says the legislation was approved by the House Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs, along with 20 other bills making similar changes in various state laws. Howell’s bill removes outdated requirements pertaining to the definition of a veteran and now goes to the full House for consideration.
