DETROIT (AP) – Plans are in the works for a big fundraiser for the Belle Isle Conservancy in conjunction with this year’s Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. The 2016 PwC Grand Prixmiere presented by Chevrolet takes place June 3 to help kick off Grand Prix weekend in Detroit. Tickets are on sale. A cocktail reception is planned that’s expected to be attended by Grand Prix drivers followed by dinner, an auction and dancing. Last year’s event raised nearly $1.2 million. The nonprofit Belle Isle Conservancy is dedicated to preserving and improving Belle Isle. The state manages the park that’s located in the Detroit River.
