
Approximately 50 Sanilac County firefighters battled a Sanilac Township fire that was out of control due to Monday’s high winds.
Shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, the Sanilac East Fire Authority responded to 6249 Custer Road in Carsonville to investigate smoke in the area. Upon investigation, a fire was found to be out of control due to the high winds. Sanilac Central Dispatch was notified, with appropriate agencies being dispatched quickly to handle the fire.
With assistance from the Sanilac County AERO squadron, Sanilac County Emergency Management, Sanilac County EMS and about 50 firefighters stemming from the Sanilac East Fire Authority, Carsonville Fire Department, Deckerville Fire Department and Applegate Fire Department, the fire was deemed out by 9:00 p.m. that night.
All agencies cleared the scene with no injuries reported. The Sanilac East Fire Authority would like to thank all involved agencies for their assistance.
