“Captain America: Civil War” debuts at top of box office list

LOS ANGELES (AP) – The latest superhero movie is off to a, well, super start. “Captain America: Civil War” opened with a strong $181.8 million in its debut weekend. Not only was it good enough for the top spot on the box office list, it marks the fifth-highest domestic opening ever. The movie is the 13th in the series of movies based on the Marvel stable of superheroes. And it comes at a time when there was concern that moviegoers are “superhero fatigued.” Left in the wake of “Captain America’s” surge: “The Jungle Book” with $21.9 at number two and “Mother’s Day” with $9 million in box office receipts.
