(SANILAC COUNTY) — A minivan was rear-ended by a privately owned bus early Saturday afternoon in Sanilac County’s Wheatland Township. Sheriff’s deputies say the bus was traveling west on Deckerville Road around 1:20 p.m. when it crashed into the back of the minivan, which was attempting to turn south onto North Sandusky Road. The driver of bus, 25-year-old Christina Grover of Deckerville, said the bus’s brakes had failed. The 15-year-old driver of the minivan and his mother, 40-year-old Rhonda Stone, were transported by Sanilac EMS to McKenzie Health System for treatment. The 15-year-old had a permit to drive with a parent and was not at fault in the accident. The bus driver was not injured. Police say alcohol was not a factor and that all involved were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
